Matt predominantly works in traditional mediums. His art wishes to explore the often ignored and rejected multifaceted nature of the “male experience”. He attempts to critique the one-dimensional, archetypal version of manhood that saturates iconography and media.

 

He does this by depicting men with attributes traditionally seen as effeminate, such as vulnerability and sensuality. He believes traditional depictions of men are proliferated through societal “norms” and practices, which can influence men and those around them negatively.
